| Have you heard about “The Secret”? Back in September, my coach introduced me to The Secret and suggested that I watch it. So I did and I was amazed! I connected immediately with the concepts. It resonated so much with me that I ended up taking four or five pages of notes. | |||||||||
| Over the next several months, I found myself mentioning it to some of my clients, friends and other acquaintances. It didn’t appear as if that many people had heard of it. Then, all of a sudden, at the beginning of the year, I heard on TV that the producer and several of the people from the movie were going to be on Oprah. What a surprise! Unfortunately, the day that it was to air, I had two clients scheduled. Since I can’t remember the last time I taped a TV show, I was pretty sure that wasn’t going to happen. I was bummed. Then, lo and behold, my first client called and cancelled. I immediately got on the phone and called the second client to see if she could come earlier and she graciously agreed. When she arrived, I confessed that it was really rather selfish that I asked her to come earlier. I explained the situation and then she got excited because she too wanted to see the Oprah show. | |||||||||
I did get to see the show and continued to be impressed with the concepts. At the end of the show, our local network flashed an e-mail; joyworker.com on the screen. It caught my attention and I decided to e-mail the unknown individual. Much to my surprise, I received a response from the individual and it happened to be a local TV anchor (Jane Aldrich, for those of you in the Lansing area) who I actually went to college with. What a surprise! In addition to her job in TV, she has started offering programs regarding The Law of Attraction. What a coincidence! If you haven’t watched The Secret or read the book, I would highly recommend it. I’m not saying that it’s the be all and end all, however I believe it has a lot to offer to get you headed in the right direction. As I said, I took several pages of notes the first time I watched the movie. I recently reviewed those notes and wrote down a list of statements that I found worthwhile. Click here for that list. Feel free to print it out and post it somewhere that you will see it on a regular basis. Today, I also took a moment to peruse messages posted to Oprah’s
website regarding people’s reaction to her show regarding The Secret.
I was quite surprised at the mixed reviews. Some people love it, some
people believe they’ve found their path, some people think it’s
a scam, some think it’s just a marketing tactic. One person wrote:
“I have viewed the CD and related to it on so many levels. This
CD is so different than any other self help information. You choose to
get out of it what you want to get out of it.” |

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sports Spouses - The Challenge of Being a Coach's Wife Being a coach’s wife takes a special person. You automatically become the CEO of your household and family. You are the “glue” that holds it all together. When it’s time to move, you make all the arrangements. When it comes to dealing with the kids issues at school, you deal with the teachers. When it comes to soothing your spouse’s bruised ego after a loss, you’re the one who’s there for them. When recently working with a group of coaches’ wives and asking the top three to five challenges of being a coach’s wife, the number one reason was loneliness followed by work/life balance, limited family time, lack of communication and dealing with change. Sound familiar? Being a coach’s wife may be fulfilling enough for some women, but not for others. That certainly doesn’t mean that they don’t love their husbands or that they’re not supportive. It may just mean that they also need to be fulfilled as a person themselves. By working with a coach, women would have an opportunity to find out what it is that fulfills them. In addition, they can share experiences and build camaraderie. Coaching is an opportunity for the wives to identify their own goals and issues, develop a plan for obtaining them and be held accountable.
